The department
The Department of History is the largest of its kind in Sweden, located only ten minutes from Stockholm City centre. To be situated in the capital of Sweden gives us great advantages as we benefit access to mayor archives, museums and authorities.
The university is situated in the middle of the first national city park in the world and is characterised by natural beauty, unique architecture and contemporary art and sculpture. About the University
Education
At the department we offer a wide variety of introductory and advanced courses in history that will challenge any undergraduate and graduate student. We also participate in the education of teachers in history.
Furthermore we offer a second cycle course in archival science, the Cultural Studies Program, five programs i history at first and second cycle, and a four-year PhD program in history.
Education
Research
There are around 50 members of staff engaged in teaching and research, and some 40 PhD students doing their scientific research studies. Research carried out at the department covers a wide range of topics.
