The Swedish Research Council started in the year 2000, after an inititative from the Swedish government, the research programme ”Sweden’s relations to Nazism, Nazi Germany and the Holocaust”.

In 2003, the programme published Stig Ekman, and Klas Åmark, (eds), "Sweden’s relations with Nazism, Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. A survey of research". Stockholm Studies in History nr 66, Almqvist and Wiksell International, Stockholm 2003.

In January 2011, Åmark published a broad synthesis in Swedish, called “Att bo granne med ondskan” (Living as neighbour to evil), Bonniers. The work with the programme at the Department of History is now finished.
