Sami Outinen - new visiting PhD-student
Is staying until the end of April, 2012.
I'm a social science historian from the university of Helsinki, and now a visiting NordWel- PhD-student at the Department of History.
My PhD-work "Social Democrats, Concepts of Social and the Terms of Livelihood of Workforce in Finland and Sweden 1975–1998" deals with the role of social democrats in national employment-, unemployment security- and labour market issues in Finland but also in Sweden in 1975–1998.
The Swedish comparison will bring one additional conceptual and phenomenal dimension into my PhD-project by representing one additional way how the different social democrats have acted in the above mentioned questions and how these policies are practised in the two Nordic countries.
My supervisor here in Stockholm is Nils Edling. I can read Swedish rather fluently and will surely learn to speak it better during my visit in Stockholm.
